The City of Bridges, the City of Water, and the City of Light—Venice glows with romance and mystery.
At dusk, the sky and water turn to silk and shimmer with hints of violet, aqua, and gold. The lights’ radiance dances across the bridges that link Venice’s small islands.
The enchanting play of light and color is the inspiration for the region’s most famous product, Murano glass, and for the artisan designs of the LuckyClover Collection.
Murano, just a 10-minute boat ride from Venice, is the home of artisan glass.
What started as a quaint fishing village quickly turned to a nexus of art and commerce when, in 1291, Venetian glassmakers moved to the less populated island of Murano to reduce the risk of fires to Venice.
Famous for its mirrors, beads, and enchanting chandeliers, Murano was the main producer of glass in Europe until the 1800s. Murano set the world standard for glass production. The beauty, clarity, and distinctive color of Murano glass made its glassmakers the envy of Europe and near-royalty of the Veneto.
Today, glassmaking is still the island’s main industry, and Murano glass artists still use the same time-honored techniques that have been passed down for generations. Each piece of Murano glass is handcrafted, making each and every gem a unique work of art.
You can see Murano’s history in the bold colors that transport you to another place and time. You can feel the tradition in the near-flawless molded glass that seems to hold the heat of the fire that shaped it and of anyone who touches it.
Murano glass is art. It’s legend. And it’s our inspiration.
